Is a .site.ink name a real domain?

In every way that matters for ownership, yes. Each name is recorded in the registry database under its registrant, has its own nameservers, can be renewed and transferred between registrars, and is covered by published policies and RDAP/WHOIS.

Technically, in the DNS, yourname.site.ink sits one level below site.ink, which is itself a domain in the .ink top-level domain. Registries that sell names under a second-level domain are a long-standing pattern — for example co.uk or my.id.

How is it different from a free platform subdomain?

A platform subdomain such as name.platform.com is controlled by that platform: it disappears when you leave, and you can't point it anywhere else. A .site.ink name is registered to you, you choose its nameservers and DNS records, and you can move it to another registrar or hosting provider at any time.

What is the Public Suffix List, and is site.ink on it?

The Public Suffix List (PSL) tells browsers and online services which names are controlled by independent owners — co.uk is on it, for example. site.ink is not on the list yet; the registry plans to apply once there are active registrants.

Until it is listed:

  • browsers can treat names under site.ink as one site for some cookie and security decisions;
  • certificate authorities such as Let's Encrypt count certificates for all of site.ink together for rate limits;
  • some platforms show yourname.site.ink as a subdomain and suggest a CNAME record — see the setup guides for what to use instead.

Who runs .site.ink?

The registry is operated by PT Aidi Digital Global (Jakarta, Indonesia), with registry services provided by RSP.id. The registry runs the database, policies, and DNS; it does not sell names to the public. See About & contact.

How do I get a .site.ink name, and what does it cost?

Check the name in WHOIS, then register it with an accredited registrar. Each registrar sets its own price, payment methods, and support.
